Memorial Day in Iowa - yes, the forecast is for rain!! That's OK by my family - we are racing fans & this is like the Kentucky Derby weekend at our house! Other families we know host a "Breakfast at Wimbledon" we have "Breakfast at Indy"! We all have our favorite drivers & the "trash-talking" has already begun! (btw - go Danica!)

I remember one particular Memorial Day - both of our DH's thought they would go out & golf. We had been living in IA for just a few years & I hadn't realized the IA trend of rain, wind & Memorial Day... well, we had gale force winds that day & Theresa & I were stuck at my house trying to entertain 4 children while we worried about the guys out in the rain. Of course, we had planned the whole cookout thing & nothing seemed to be going our way. We discovered that we had worried about the guys for nothing - I mean, what do 2 grown men do when they get off the links & it's raining too much to drive home? They get a designated driver!

As the saying goes - we've come a long way baby. Enjoy Memorial Day with friends & family... and make new some new memories!
